A leading engineering company in the water processing/desalination industry are looking for a Proposals Engineer, ideally with experience in a related field.
Reporting to the Proposals Co-ordinator, the Proposals Engineer will be responsible for preparing tenders for the Power & Industrial sector. The position will be based at the EWT office in Colchester and the successful candidate will be required to be located in this area.
The main responsibilities are:-
- Manage the preparation of proposals valued up to £10million or more. - Interpret potential customers' requirements on receipt of enquiry documents from the Proposals Co-ordinator, and select suitable products from the range together with suitable ancillary items. - Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to establish the costs and key design parameters for the selected equipment. - Produce a detailed technical specification and cost schedule for all tenders. Liaise with the Sales Manager and/or Proposals Co-ordinator to agree final tender price. - Prepare a tender document for submission to the customer which outlines both commercial and technical aspects of the company's offer. - On receipt of orders review technical and commercial information and issue an internal manufacturing specification to the relevant departments for the equipment being supplied. - Attend handover meeting with all departments involved in working on the contract - Provide technical back–up for the sales department as requested. - Attend occasional liaison meeting/site visits with potential clients in Europe and on occasions worldwide.
Person Specification:-
- Experienced in Proposal or Contract preparation within Water processing Industry preferred, or suitably qualified in another industry and willing to learn - Working knowledge of pressurised Pipeline systems and or desalination equipment would be advantageous but not essential. - HND/HNC or equivalent gained in an Engineering based discipline - Detail orientated - Excellent organisational ability - IT literate in Excel, Word, Access etc - Good communication skills both written and oral - Able to read technical drawings - Able to travel when required
The salary for the role is £28k-£33k (may go higher depending on experience)+ pension
