One of the UK’s leading main contractors with an annual Group turnover in excess of £500 million are currently looking for a Project Quantity Surveyor.
Although the main office is based in Hertfordshire, the work will cover much of London and the South East. This is a real opportunity to build a career with a large organisation that can nurture and develop your skills and abilities.
As a PQS, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including Civil Engineering, Building, Utilities, Rail and PFI/PPP ranging from £5 - £100 Million in value. You will be either supporting a SQS/MQS on 1 x £10m+ project or being a sole Project QS on a smaller project.
Responsibilities:
• Maximising the company’s profitability and cash position. • Working within the existing QA and Health & Safety policies and procedures whilst identifying potential improvements. • Identifying and manage all risks and opportunities. • Full commercial management including Cost/Value Reconciliations and Forecasts on a monthly basis. • Strategising and procuring Subcontractors and Suppliers to minimise risk and maximise potential. • Subcontractor management including correspondence, notifications, payments and final account negotiations. • Proactive management of Client and Design Team. • Managing delays. • Identifying and budgeting/pricing all changes to keep Client/PQS informed of final account forecast.
Skills/ Experience Required:
• 5 - 10 years experience including time with a Main Contractor on design and build and traditional projects. • Car driving license essential. • Professional and diligent manner • Ability to identify opportunities • Competence in client facing roles • Problem solving skills essential • Practical influencing skills • Proactive individual able to work with minimal supervision • Communication, oral & written • Excellent IT skills • Enthusiasm to develop and expand our service offering • A forward-thinking approach to the management of clients and projects • An energetic and motivated professional • A team player who can develop and maintain good relationships and gain the confidence of other professionals both within the company and outside. • Skills to communicate with external contacts on site. • Ability to prioritise workload and achieve all deadlines. • A professional demeanour with good verbal and written communication skills. • Experience in Subcontract Procurement and Management including measuring, valuing, notifications and payments. • Experience in the value (profitability) of Subcontract works preferable
