Job Description
Takes prime responsibility for advising Branch Manager/Director on the commercial risk elements of contracts from tender stage through to final completion. Plans the commercial activities required for each contract, and constantly monitors and controls the costs involved. Consolidates and reviews the Branch business plan and periodic updates.
Responsibilities:
Where appropriate, manage and develop the Commercial activities and successfully achieve company, Branch, team and individual goals and objectives relating to the standardised implementation of commercial practices and procedures throughout the Branch Advise Branch Manager/Director of the risk assessment of the commercial aspects of all enquiries, including the balance of contractual risk/estimate and risk/acceptable profit prior to submission of a tender to a client Formulate, in conjunction with the contract team, a commercial plan specific to each contract identifying the activities necessary to protect the company and enhance the profitability of contracts Ensure that contract costs are monitored and controlled against agreed budgets, and that cost information is accurately recorded and regularly presented to appropriate personnel in a clear and concise format Ensure that contract progress is monitored and controlled against agreed programmes. Identify and investigate any variances from plan and notify these to appropriate personnel, agreeing and implementing appropriate remedial action with contract management Advise and assist in the preparation and agreement of interim valuations and final accounts. This includes providing hands-on assistance in the measurement and valuation of work when requested by the Branch Manager/Director Evaluate dispute information and prepare and agree claims for reimbursement of loss and expense. Negotiate and manage the resolution of disputes Consolidate and submit Branch business plan updates and attend and contribute to financial reviews. Regularly review and verify individual team plans with the Branch Manager/Director Maintain highest levels of commercial confidentiality in all aspects of employment Any other duties as required
Qualifications & Experience
Ideally educated to degree (or equivalent) standard in a relevant subject Previous commercial experience is essential, ideally working within a building services environment. Must possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, together with a common sense and flexible approach.
