Senior Quantity Surveyor required in Basingstoke, Hampshire - The position of Senior Quantity Surveyor has arisen and the role will be split between being site based (UK Wide) and Basingstoke. Our Client designs and constructs foundations for all types of buildings, structures and civil engineering works. Their wide range of piling techniques include rotary bored, CFA, precast driven and retaining wall piling. In addition they carry out diaphragm walling and ground improvement utilising environmental techniques.
The contractual and commercial administration of various specialist geotechnical projects, including pre and post contract commercial duties
Key Tasks/Responsibilities: • Prepare, collate, check, and monitor various financial forecasts and reports for projects • Review and negotiate the conditions of our contracts and warranties with clients, including ensuring that the final documents are prepared and executed in compliance with company procedures. • Monitor commercial KPIs and produce a monthly performance report. • Ensure that applications for payment are accurately valued, prepared and submitted on time. • Liaise with clients to agree monthly valuations including final accounts, and obtain payment certificates, and payments on time • Contractual negotiation and administration of sub-contractors, including valuation and payment. • Ensure that commercial and contractual matters are properly controlled on projects • Produce commercial risk assessments for projects, manage identified risks, and produce relevant reports • Review enquiry documentation and input into the tender preparation
Skills Required: Essential • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Computer literate including competency in the use of MS Excel and Word or similar • Excellent numeracy, including data analysis and interpretation skills • Commercial awareness including the ability to identify, evaluate, and manage contractual and commercial risks • Excellent negotiating skills • The ability to work well both within a team, and individually; with commitment, initiative, thoroughness, accuracy and clarity. • Well organised with good time management skills • Very good presentation skills • The ability to effectively manage, train, and mentor • The ability to work collaboratively, with a client focused approach
Education and/or experience: • Detailed knowledge and proven experience of a wide range of contracts and sub-contracts (including JCT and NEC), and warranties • Quantity surveying experience gained with a specialist contractor, preferably in the Piling Sector • Degree or similar qualification in a construction related subject • Full UK driving licence • Good knowledge of contract law • Professionally qualified
