Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Drainage Engineer who wishes to develop their career with a team that successfully resolves challenges presented by the built and natural environment. Please read the full description below and if this is you then we would like you to join us to enhance and develop our drainage design team in our Epsom office. In this role you would be at the forefront of drainage innovation, leading a team on major highways schemes and reporting directly to the project manager and at the same time tackling of issues such as sustainability and reducing environmental impact. Business Summary Atkins’ Transport Solutions offices in Epsom plan, design and enable major highways schemes in the UK and overseas. Leading the market in the design of major highway infrastructure projects our clients include the Highways Agency, Transport for London, major contractors and developers. We are very active in the Design and Build and Early Contractor Involvement markets, where we are working as designers for a number of contractors, such as Balfour Beatty, Costain, Skanska and ICON, on UK projects such as M1 Widening Junctions 6A-10 ECI and A14 Ellington to Fen Ditton ECI and overseas projects such as N6 Galway to Ballinasloe PPP Scheme. Through our consultancy framework with the HA, we are currently undertaking various roles such as designer of the A21 Tonbridge to Pembury scheme and agents for the HA, on A3 Hindhead.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide technical leadership in respect of drainage design to managers within transportation engineering
  • Work with clients to develop and promote highway drainage schemes through all stages of development from inception to construction completion
  • Assist with the development of our departments drainage design capability
  • Assist with staff development
  • Promote our capability to clients
  • Application of Atkins Quality, Safety and Environmental (QSE) systems


Requirements
  • Chartered (ICE) or Incorporated Engineer
  • Previous relevant Team Leader experience
  • Experience of using Highways Agency’s design standards
  • Experience of highway drainage design at feasibility and detailed design stages
  • Experience in the use of Microdrainage or WinDes
  • Understanding of MX and Autocad (preferable)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and able to work effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Good UK experience
