Job Description The Rivers and Coastal Division of Atkins Water has an expanding workload, working with a range of public and private clients in the UK and overseas. Current workload includes studies, designs and supervision of a range of projects including major hydraulic structures (dams, barrages, flood defence barriers and gated weirs) and other river engineering works. Approaching/recently Chartered Civil Engineers are needed to strengthen the existing team. Assignments will cover strategy and feasibility studies, design and construction supervision, both in the UK and overseas. Some overseas travel may be required. The position involves participation in an expanding business environment and offers attractive prospects for personal development and career advancement.
Requirements B Eng Civil Engineering or equivalent. Approaching or recently achieved MICE status. The ideal candidate for this role will need to have appropriate amount of experience in a relevant field. preferably, civil engineering experience in either water, hydraulics or flood defence. In addition to the above, some experience of other fields such as geotechnics, structural design, and contract documentation etc would be advantageous. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate good engineering and communication skills, and the potential to lead small teams to deliver work packages on time, within budget and to a high technical standard.
Responsibilities Reporting to either the Project Manager or Team Leader, you will take responsibility for small studies and design assignments, or sections of larger projects. Tasks will include direction of technical input, resource management, financial control and reporting, while ensuring that high quality standards are met. You will also be responsible for client liaison and coordination with Akins Project Managers along with preparation of project deliverables including reports, drawings and contract documents.
