An automotive OEM requires a Test Engineer Position Description: A full understanding of test requirements and procedures in respect of rig, vehicle, or general testing. Establish detailed engineering and legal requirements and determines all test methods, facilities and equipment used. Responsible for design and development of tests. Test data analysis and feedback. To liaise with internal and external component and development engineers, and to advise of required design changes. To prepare detailed test procedures for standard or repetitive tests and drafts proposed procedures for new or special tests. Design of test rigs and fixtures and/or other special equipment. Guide and instruct mechanics and electricians to assist with testing. To operate within a team of test engineers. Ensure provision of adequate instrumentation and monitors progress of task. Monitor and report on the quality of emissions and fuel economy test results from the client certification, end-of-line and in-use verification program emissions test facilities. Also, correlate between the client and government facilities. Skills Required: Ability to summarise market based interpretations of all vehicle emission testing regulations and related testing/monitoring requirements and disseminate/interpret that information to engineering personnel, concentrating mainly on the effect to emissions testing and correlation. A knowledge of automotive legislation, preferably in vehicle emissions related areas. A high level understanding of after- treatment desirable. To have a working knowledge of emission laboratories either as vehicle development engineer or test engineer. A high level understanding of modern light duty engine technology and calibration. A high level of presentation skills and to be capable of dealing with a wide range of people from different nationalities/cultures. Skills Preferred: 1. Conduct emissions laboratory sign-offs and quality assessments at certification, end- of-line and in-use verification program (IUVP) test facilities to evaluate conformance to Corporate guidelines and regulatory requirements. Conduct sign-offs of new emissions test facilities and equipment Conduct emissions test facility quality assessments Act as the local calibration authority and regulatory authoring activity to qualify laboratories for certification testing. 2. Monitor and report on emissions and fuel economy correlation between client and government emissions test facilities. Education Required: Educated to degree level, MS Office (min Word & Excel) & Report Writing. Perform related duties as required.
