To repair and refurbish heavy goods vehicles, other vehicles and equipment at various sites throughout the greater London area as directed. You will also be required to carry out those repairs within the constraints of the various current service contracts on a shift basis DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES To repair, maintain, vehicles and equipment as required having due regard for quality and safety. To accurately diagnose faults, to carry out remedial action in the most efficient and effective manor. A good knowledge of London, to attend any location as may reasonably be directed to carry out the job. To perform the duties of the job to acceptable standards within acceptable times. To perform the duties of the job in a courteous manor and comply with any rules and procedures as may be in force at any location when carrying out the job. To carry out the duties of the job on a shift basis as required by the client. To participate in out of hours work as required. To follow the job allocation and reporting procedures as required. To ensure pass through costs are correctly processed. Bring to management attention any improvements that may increase efficiency or customer satisfaction. To use any technologies that may be employed to run the business. To complete any manual documentation as may be required. To carry out the functions of the job with due regard to health and safety. To keep any assigned vehicle clean and tidy. To bring to the attention of management any noted defect. To follow the spares ordering procedure and keep all van stock of spares in the correct locations, up to date and tidy. To participate in any stock audits as required. To receive and despatch spares at an assigned location. To attend meetings and training courses as may be directed. To assist new starters in the performance of the job as may be required. Deliver and operate vehicles when required on fire ground. To drive with care and consideration to other road users at all times. To drive vehicles safely under emergency situations. Have the ability to operate the machine safely with due care and attention. Take instruction from Fire Officers when working at an emergency incident. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Essential: Have a recognised commercial vehicle apprenticeship followed by a period of experience as a skilled technician, or have worked as a skilled vehicle technician . Be experienced in the use of tools, test equipment and other equipment normally used in the performance of the job. Be able to work with minimum supervision and on own initiative as well as having an understanding of working in a team environment. Have a flexible approach to work and a cooperative attitude to the performance of the job. To have a good understanding of customer handling skills and be able to build a positive relationship with our customers. Hold an HGV class C driving licence as well as an ordinary driving licence. Be physically fit and able to carry heavy items. Have a working knowledge and awareness of health and safety in relation to heavy commercial vehicle repair maintenance skills and associated trades.
