Our client, a major automotive supplier requires a Hardware Engineer.
Department Description: To design and develop electronic and instrumentation products for the automotive market. To continuously research, report and document the trends for electronics in the European Automotive market. To develop suitable products/demonstration samples that can he used as marketing tools for demonstrating our client's capability/ experience or for evaluating new technologies. The department shall, where suitable in regards to resources, equipment, experience etc... Provide the European sales offices with technical support for RFQ's, exhibitions, workshops and similar types of activities. Key Tasks and Responsibilities: 1. Design, development, and evaluation testing of electronics hardware for instrument clusters, body electronics modules and smart power distribution units. 2. Liaise with outsourcing suppliers. 3. To prepare, update and establish development procedures and routines as required. 4 To evaluate and select hardware test, evaluation end development tools. 5. To investigate and be updated on new hardware design methods and techniques. 6. To co-ordinate and participate in benchmark activities such as research, record and present customer profiles and trends. 7. To perform any other relevant duties as required.
Special Assignment: The successful candidate will be asked, after a two months of training at client's Hemel Hempstead design centre, to work for up to six month at the client's Australia design centre, they will thereafter be asked to return there regularly for shorter period of time (1 to 2 weeks).
Education and Qualifications: Minimum: Electronics Engineering Degree. Preferably: Masters Degree in Electronics.
Practical Experience: Minimum: Experience with hardware design of electronics components and Hardware design [or automotive electronics control units. Preferably: Experience with instrument cluster design, smart junction boxes and body electronics design and manufacturing of electronics control units.
Professional Skills & Experience: Minimum: Able to demonstrate good problem solving skills (analytical), good knowledge with hardware design tools for schematics capture and simulation (Orcad, etc) and knowledgeable in the EMC field, Knowledge of thermal management of power electronic devices. Basic understanding of electronics software design and of mechanical design, fully versant in PC operations (Word. Excel, PowerPoint, Internet), knowledge of electronics components market cost levels (design to cost) and good understanding of electronics manufacturing.
Interpersonal and Social Skills:Self sufficient, self-motivated, excellent team-player, flexible, adaptable, diplomatic altitude, excellent written and verbal communication skills and well-presented.
Language Skills: Minimum: Fluent in English. Preferably: German, French arid Japanese would he bonus
