An automotive OEM requires a Calibration Engineer
Position Description:
Support Lead Calibration Engineer and team in the following responsibilities: - Specify performance related hardware for high pressure common rail Diesel engines to meet performance and economy objectives. Develop engine calibration on dyno. To meet all commodity objectives. Calibrate power-train to provide transient performance to program target. Calibrate vehicle emission behaviour to meet program target emission standard whist satisfying other vehicle attribute targets such as combustion noise, driveability and performance. Calibrate vehicle driveability and dynamic performance to program objectives. Calibrate self-test and EOBD monitors to requirements. Calibrate power-train for different modes of after-treatment operation. Calibrate power-train for environmental conditions including hot, cold and high altitude operation. Assist in vehicle/power-train problem identification and resolution. Coordinate calibration communisation, processes and procedures. Carry out all testing required completing calibration DVP and document results.
Skills Required:
Knowledge and understanding of diesel combustion with either academic or industrial experience. Knowledge, experience and understanding of calibration processes and tools and classical control theory with either academic or industrial experience.
Skills Preferred:
Vehicle and control electronics, control strategy, hardware design, after-treatment system engineering.
Experience Required:
Relevant experience either academic or industrial covering calibration, control system development or application, knowledge of combustion and emission control technologies. This position would be suitable for a recently qualified graduate in engineering.
Education Required:
Minimum 2:2 degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control System Engineering or similar relevant disciplines.
