Body Design Engineer (Automotive Engineering)

Job description Working closely with Systems/Application engineers in a number of functional areas including Closures, Structures and Underbody Sheet metal you will report to the Body CAD Management. Your tasks will include: • Development of vehicle / system concepts and schemes • Detail design and draughting of vehicle systems and components using Catia V5 • Generating and making changes to 3D CAD models, Weld files, Sections and exploded views. • Liaising with suppliers in the detail design and draughting of supplier owned systems and • components • Creating and maintaining System Specifications, Bill of Materials, FMEAs and Test & Development Plans • Providing engineering support to various projects/personnel/customers Your profile • Delivery of design solutions in line with project briefs • Liaison with customers and suppliers in the achievement of specifications (eg performance, • durability, quality, cost, weight, manufacturing) • Support to the development and validation process • Working to tight deadlines and demanding technical requirements
Requirements: • You will be a fully trained CAD Design Engineer with an automotive background, able to apply engineering principles in the design process. • You must be fully conversant in CATIA V5 with IDEAS / C3P experience a bonus. • A good working knowledge of draughting standards and geometric tolerances will be required. • You must be fluent in English Language and conversant with PC based tools used in an office environment. • An understanding in use of the following processes would be an advantage - FMEAs, Design • Validation, Supplier Quality Assurance. • Experience with OEM Product Development systems would also be advantageous - eg Ford GPDS, Teamcenter, WERS.
