The position is for a System Test Engineer who wishes to extend his or her knowledge into world Satellite Communications.
The role will be challenging and involve working within a team testing TT&C and IP based communications networks supporting Satellite technologies for both Military and Commercial infrastructures.
Customer facing skills are essential.
The successful candidate will have an understanding and proven background in the following,
A baseline requirement for this position is strength within the IT arena with prime focus on Cisco technologies, network testing and verification.
Networking experience is required within an enterprise environment.
Knowledge of TT&C communications equipments and protocols is advantageous but not essential.
Key skills/competencies:
CCNA certification or equivalent experience
Catalyst Switches 29xx > 65xx series
Routers 18xx > 72xx series
LAN Switching concepts
Ethernet concepts
IP address schemes and subnetting (IPv4)
IPv6 knowledge
Network Time Protocol (NTP)
Domain Name System (DNS)
Network Management (Logging, SNMP, Syslog)
IP Routing: OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, Redistribution, RIPv2, Policy Routing
Quality of Service
IP multicast
WAN technologies: FR, MPLS, Leased, VPN
IP Security
Firewall technologies (Cisco PIX series)
Network Management applications (ORION NPM, Cisco Works)
Write test specifications for systems, sub-systems and equipments.
Write requirement analysis from design specifications
Write test reports
Understanding and implementation of either:
Visio Professional
AutoCAD
The ability to efficiently organise and co-ordinate their work to provide innovative solutions to problems and to communicate them
Mandatory:
Experience in satellite ground systems test and development
The ideal candidate will also be expected to travel occasionally
Desirable:
Background in ground systems test and development
Good communications skills
SC clearance
Personal Qualities:
Team player
Organised
Communicative and determined with the ability to work on their own initiative.
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
