Main Activities Preparation - Thoroughly review and study the project requirements relating to Software in order to provide expertise, and assist in developing an agreed approach for internal and subcontracted activities. Planning - Responsible for the approval of the supplier's Software Quality Assurance Plans (inc. compliance matrices with Customer requirements), and for leading their implementation in the projects. Participate in the approval and implementation of the Development and Verification Plans (DVP) for the project. Customer Interface - Manage the interfaces for software quality matters (quality requirements review, implementation and results of actions). This will involve direct negotiation with Customer Software Representatives as necessary. Supplier Interface - conducting supplier process assessments and internal/external audits; reviewing requirements traceability; chairing, contributing to and attending design reviews, test readiness reviews and non- conformance/problem reviews; monitoring and witnessing testing; inspection/review and approval of project documentation and certification. Extensive travel around UK and Europe would be expected. Risk Management - act as a risk management facilitator (optimum technical/schedule/cost approach). Processes and Metrics - Facilitate other disciplines in the improvement of processes by the use of suitable quality measurement and analysis tools. PA Support - Provide support to non-software Quality Assurance tasks for the project when possible (experience/ability permitting) with a flexible team approach.
Requirements
Key Skills Preferred 1. Degree or HND/HNC in a relevant a discipline, or in-depth knowledge of similar software development. 2. At least 3 years experience of working in a software environment, directly responsible for the software quality, performance and acceptance aspects of high value software product(s). 3. Direct experience of managing/supporting high value software subcontracts through all phases of the lifecycle: tender, bid, kick-off, development, review, acceptance, delivery and support phases. 4. Ability to assess potential suppliers against ECSS, ESA, CMM, ISO applicable standards and methodologies relating to a scope of work. 5. Direct experience of identifying software quality issues, implementing a risk management process in a high value subcontract environment and overseeing mitigation actions. 6. Experience of software design reviews, code reviews, test reviews, and acceptance reviews (in accord with a chosen lifecycle). 7. Ability to communicate, operate and influence at all levels of management up to senior management level (both internally and with external suppliers/subcontractors). 8. Good team worker with strong interpersonal and persuasive skills. 9. Ability to produce concise management reports, presentations, minutes and actions. 10. Expert user and promoter of software and quality tools and methods, particularly office applications, risk management and metrics. 11. Experience of man management. |
