The main purpose of job:
Lead and manage the Structured Contracts team so as to:
Identify new commodity procurement contracting opportunities that add value and mitigate risk in line with the wider business objectives Maximise the value of their existing power and gas contract portfolios and their CHP and storage assets, Establish and maintain the necessary commodity Master Agreements to facilitate the Company’s trading strategy, safeguard our contractual documentation and maintain the contracts library.
Accountabilities:
Maximise portfolio value and performance and mitigate risks through the effective management of our existing contracts. Originate new deals that deliver added value to the Company while satisfying strategic objectives. Deliver and maintain commodity Master Agreements in line with business priorities while minimising legal and credit risk. Resolve any contractual issues that arise, including the negotiation of any claims and contract amendments, so as to protect the Company’s rights and obligations. Effectively manage and support the team members to enable them to deliver their own personal objectives to the highest of standards. Provide leadership of the Contracts team, seeking to further develop team members. The successful delivery of the Structured Contracts team’s objectives in line with Commercial Development’s Operating Plan. Manage the physical CHP LEC position for Energy Wholesale. Establish and maintain robust communication processes across Energy Wholesale to facilitate the smooth running of the contract management processes. Develop and negotiate improvements to existing contracts to enhance portfolio performance and to ensure continued fit with business needs. Manage existing relationships with key counterparties Report monthly on issues, negotiations and performance to meet business reporting requirements and timescales. Ensure that all contractual documentation is stored securely and that the contract approval and IAS 39 procedures are maintained and enforced. Support the Head of Structured Contracts and Commercial Development Director in strategic and commercial projects as required.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
Educated to degree level in a business or engineering discipline Proficient experience in the electricity/gas/utility industries, in a commercial role with proven experience in directing and motivating a highly qualified team of specialists and professionals Can demonstrate a clear understanding and knowledge of the commercial trading environment and particularly the electricity/gas industries and markets. Good practical knowledge of contract management, contract structures and drafting. Strong commercial awareness and highly numerate. Competent negotiator with a good track record of successful negotiations. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally. Good interpersonal skills and ability to form effective working relationships. |
