Our client is a key contributor to the development of technologies and sustainable solutions for the exploitation of energy resources in onshore, offshore and subsea environments.
They are seeking a Senior Coatings Engineer to be based in Aberdeen who will use their considerable technical and professional experience to deliver optimum solutions for both project support and R&D activities.
General activities include:
Ensuring the quality of work issued is high and conforms to OED and Group procedures.
Participationg proactively in the management and development of the team.
Promoting the Company engineering excellence through publications.
Remaining conversant with the latest industry developments.
Project Support activities will include:
Liasing with project management teams, ensuring the scope of work agreed is suitable and that the task is completed within the agreed timeframe.
Provide support for the project team.
Assist in the preparation of tenders.
Supply technical advise on coating related issues to project and tendering teams.
Developing of coating application procurement specifications.
Advise on coating system selection for subsea pipelines and equipment.
Develop project requirements for coating application for fabrication phases in accordance with current specifications and national standards and codes.
Liase directly with client technical representatives and third party technical representatives on any issues relating to coating design and application.
Supply onsite fabrication support as and when required.
You will also be involved in R&D activities eg
Effectively manage on-going R&D programmes to ensure they are completed to forecast schedule and budget.
Assist in development of R & D proposal for future activities.
Consolidate company procedures and data.
Writing of technical documentation relating to research and development and consolidation activities.
Candidates should hold a high quality Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject, preferably with a relevant Post-graduate qualification or industry experience.
Essentially the Senior Coatings Engineer should have in-depth relevant experience and will be an expert in the fields of pipelines wet insulation, corrosion protection, coatings selection and application technology. Previous experience of subsea engineering problems is preferred.
