Job Description
Due to the continued success and growing workload of our water business, we are seeking to recruit a Wastewater Engineer to our developing within our Water Operations Team, Belfast. Working for the Water & Wastewater division of Atkins, you will be responsible for, wastewater, drainage design and project management, including CDM, on a variety of projects. Principally you will be working on schemes involving public water, wastewater and sewerage systems, including initial investigations, computer modelling, option evaluation and detailed design for construction. Projects may also include drainage from highways, commercial, residential and public buildings including connections to public sewers, local watercourses and soakaways using both traditional and SUDS solutions.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role will need to be able to demonstrate the following level of skills and experience: - Degree in Civil Engineering or other appropriate qualification.
- Recently chartered or approaching chartership.
- Able to produce technical reports in a clear and concise form. Able to communicate effectively with both colleagues and clients
- Competent in using IT including Word, Excel, Power-point, email and the Internet
- Able to work with and manage junior engineers and technicians
- Good presentational skills

- Oversee Contractors
- Site Survey/Investigation
- Responsible for Finanicial Approval
- Liaison with clients and other outside organisations (e.g. SEPA, Building Control, Local Authority Planners, etc
- Carrying out all tasks in accordance with Atkins Quality Assurance procedures.
- Using relevant software packages – MapInfo, WinDes and InfoWorks experience would be advantageous.
Training Candidates will be encouraged to join/transfer to Atkins’ ICE or CIWEM training schemes and to develop their skills under a structured programme of training and experience.
