System safety engineer based in Runcorn

Your Role:
To carry out the design, implementation, test and acceptance of Safety Systems of agreed scopes. In addition provide technical support across the company in both sales and customer service.
Main Tasks Include:
Lead small projects up to a defined size; larger scopes being supported by a Lead Engineer or Project Manager.
Take technical responsibility for definition of safety work packages and managing to completion.
Plan and control allocated work, to time and budget.
Carry out detailed engineering design, configuration and test of safety systems, to include hardware, software and PLC coding.
Support customer witness test of systems, internally and off-site.
Provide technical support throughout consistent with specialised knowledge.
Visits to customer sites, world-wide, including short term assignments.
Accept role as ‘specialist’ on Prosafe PLC systems.
Required Skills: Minimum of 5 years experience in the Safety Systems industry.
Proven track record in engineering of Safety Systems and related services. Experience of project execution at all levels of the project lifestyle.
Adherence to IEC 61508 with regard to Safety System Life Cycle for Safety System projects.
Demonstrate an understanding of SIL Assessment.
Teamwork, as part of a structured team in the handling of major capital projects.
Understand and demonstrate strategies required to design and engineer ESD and F&G systems.
Understand and have experience of coding Triconex and Modicon PLC’s
Formal technical education in a related discipline.
Recognised formal qualification in an engineering or process related subject. Confident and assertive individual with a strong customer focus and the ability to work on own initiative.

Professional and responsive approach, to gain credibility through integrity, technical knowledge and personality.
Represent the Company in discussions with customers.
