One of the UK’s leading main contractors with an annual Group turnover in excess of £500 million are currently looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.

As an integral member of the team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including Civil Engineering, Building, Utilities, Rail and PFI/PPP ranging from £5 - £100 Million in value
Responsibilities:
• Establishing initial budget plans • Updating budgets during investment progress • Looking at Final accounts • Variation order/procurement - reviewing offers issued by contractors • Cost estimation of required works of defined scope of works • Establishing and managing of cost database • Maximising group profitability and cash position. • Identifying and managing all risks and opportunities within own remit. • Procuring Subcontractors and Suppliers in accordance with company procedures whilst minimising risk and maximising potential. • Measuring Subcontract Works and making timely payments including all notifications. • Management of subcontractors, including correspondence, notifications, payments and final account negotiations. • Identify variations and price accordingly. • Reporting financial position on each Subcontractor under your management. • Managing Subcontract delays. • Assisting the SQS and Project QS on any other matters.
Skills/ Experience
• Between 1 - 5 years experience including time with a Main Contractor on traditional design and build projects. • An energetic and motivated professional with natural drive and innovative flair • A tenacious individual who asks questions, listens to answers, defines problems and implements change. • A perceptive individual who, through a natural diplomacy, can influence people in a changing environment • Commercially aware and financially astute individual who can identify the key issues and set suitable benchmarks • A clear thinking person demonstrating attention to detail who is well organised and can operate independently under a broad direction. • A team builder who can develop and maintain good relationships and gain the confidence of other professionals both within the Company and outside • A broad thinker who can take a global view and has an inherent ability to ‘get the job done’
