One of the UK’s leading main contractors with an annual Group turnover in excess of £500 million are currently looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.

This is a real opportunity to build a career with a large organisation who can nurture and develop your skills and abilities.

As an AQS, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including Civil Engineering, Building, Utilities, Rail and PFI/PPP ranging from £5 - £100 Million in value.

Responsibilities:

• Providing pre and post contract Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services, undertaking own projects and providing support to other members of the team.
• Assisting in final account negotiation/ settlement and preparation of financial reports.
• Maximising profitability by assisting the QS/SQS.
• Procurement of Subcontractors including preparation of comprehensive tender documentation, ensuring timely returns, full analysis and comparisons with recommendation to QS.
• Commercial management of Subcontractors including measurement and valuation of works, notifications and payments.
• Preparing liability calculations.
• Assisting in the review and pricing of variations and maintaining adequate records.
• Sending out sub contract enquiries and preparing analysis of results for review with Senior Site team.
• Payments of sub contractors and assisting in drafting sub contract terms and conditions.
• Site measurement and quantity take off's from drawings, assist with monthly applications of payments and CVR reporting.

• A team player who can develop and maintain good relationships and gain the confidence of other professionals both within the company and outside.
• Skills to communicate with external contacts on site.
• Ability to prioritise workload and achieve all deadlines.
• A professional demeanour with good verbal and written communication skills.
• 2-5 years experience including time with a Main Contractor.
• Experience in Subcontract Procurement and Management including measuring, valuing, notifications and payments.
• Experience in the value (profitability) of Subcontract works preferable.
