Our client is a long established company operating in niche markets within the corrugating industry, in particular Fragrance Packaging, Confectionery and the Food Service sector. Through product innovation they have carved out the position as market leaders in their field.
The Company has expanded rapidly, both physically and in sales. In June 2005 they relocated to a 7,000 sq metre purpose-built facility into which new machinery has been installed, significantly increasing capacity. Turnover currently exceeds £10 million, which reflects a 100% in three years.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
Due to an internal promotion, there is a vacancy with this exciting business for an experienced Production Manager with proven experience in process engineering and strong man management skills.
Tasks and responsibilities will include:
• production throughput – to work with “Planning” to be aware of work levels and ensuring shift patterns and manning levels are sufficient to meet demand
• management of production efficiencies such as machine output, waste control and manning levels
• management and welfare of all shopfloor personnel including the Production Supervisors and the Maintenance Department
• working with the Maintenance Department on essential and planned maintenance programmes
• a key involvement with Health and Safety on site, safe systems of work and risk assessments
• adherence to the required hygiene standards to ensure on-going compliance and accreditation to ‘BRC/IOP Global Standard - Food Packaging and Other Packaging Materials’
• management of individual training programmes & the keeping of up-to-date records
• attendance of the monthly Management Meeting, submitting a Production Report
REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience of production management with the ability to identify and implement “best practice” systems of working.
• Knowledge of the paper, carton or corrugated industries would be advantageous but not essential.
• Demonstrable knowledge of process engineering.
• Experience of managing Health & safety and hygiene in the workplace.
• An ability to work with management information systems and associated pc-based applications. Knowledge of the industry-bespoke Shuttleworth MIS would be of particular interest.
• The ability to work autonomously combined with a methodical and careful approach to responsibilities.
