Peel Ports operates the Port of Liverpool, Heysham Port, Manchester Ship Canal, Medway Ports and Clydeport, providing a broad range of port facilities and services to shippers and cargo owners.
We have a vacancy for a General Manager to be based at Heysham Port to maximise the profitability of the business and to ensure customer satisfaction by the delivery of a professional quality service.
Specific responsibilities will include:
• To advise and assist the Managing Director in the preparation of policy and medium and long term strategy for Heysham Port’s operation.
• To service Heysham Port’s existing customer accounts ensuring business is retained in a satisfactory manner by being aware of daily operating difficulties, ensuring effective resolution of problems in the best interests of the Company and in fulfilling agreements.
• To actively pursue and win new business by maximising all opportunities, attending promotions, exhibitions and conferences as appropriate, and utilising fully commercial support provided.
• To discuss with the Managing Director the future engineering equipment requirements for Heysham Port to allow for the formulation of annual expenditure budgets and the five year rolling forecast.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of high level operations management and significant experience in managing P&L for a multi-million pound operation. You must be a highly motivated candidate with strong man management skills and be able to influence all levels of the organisation.
