Vacancy: Senior Project Engineer
Location: Manchester
Salary: £20,000 to £30,000 + pension and healthcare.
Hours: 37.5 per week.
Primary Purpose of the Role: To manage the Project Engineering Process to company and international standards for a defined package of work. To design, build, configure, test and deploy equipment and systems to budget and programme. To manage suppliers/subcontracts ensuring that equipment and systems are delivered in a timely and cost effective manner.
Key Tasks: •Generate equipment specifications. •Generate electro-mechanical engineering drawings and other production information. •Specify and procure equipment. •Manage equipment wiring and assembly works. •Survey of Client sites to identify equipment locations, cable routes and constraints. •Manage Suppliers/Subcontractors. •Generate installation method statements and programmes. •Supervise the site installation of equipment and systems. •Provide weekly progress reports to the Project Manager. •The work will be predominately carried out Stockport but will include some work at Client, Supplier and other Company sites, so flexibility to travel and work at other locations is required.
Technical & Professional skills: Essential qualities: •Proven experience of working in a Rail, Metro, Power Generation or other industrial environment •Design and implementation of systems containing server, workstation/PC, network/communications, UPS and PLC equipment •Specification and assessment of COTS/Bespoke equipment against standards •Electro-mechanical design of equipment panels and cubicles •Generation of engineering drawings, equipment specifications and test specifications •Supplier/Subcontractor liaison and management •Ability to interface with other functions within a project to resolve the engineering issues •PC skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Project Desirable qualities: •Experience and working knowledge of the EMC and LV Directives • Experience of implementing the BS7671 IEE Wiring Regulations •Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio or AutoCAD Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
Education & Qualifications: Relevant engineering qualification (Degree/HND/HNC) or applicable experience.
