Job Summary Atkins has been involved in the nuclear industry for over four decades. We are providing services to a number of major programmes across the clean-up and decommissioning, generation, defence and new build nuclear sectors. We are also one of the country's leading designers of complex facilities at nuclear-licensed sites. Our Warrington based design team is responsible for the delivery of work packages to Atkins' project teams located in the North West, Berkshire, the South East, and the South West and roles will involve the need to visit client site offices and other Atkins' offices from time to time - candidates will therefore need to be flexible to travel as required.Opportunities exist for mechanical engineers at various levels of experience, ranging from post graduates with some relevant industry experience through to individuals with a proven track record in the production of engineering/technical deliverables on small to medium sized design projects. Experience in the nuclear industry would be preferable, but is not essential. Duties and Responsibilities Mechanical Engineers will be responsible for the following: - Project definition
- Preparation of conceptual and scheme designs
- Preparation of technical specifications
- Liaison with senior managers to ensure technical deliverables are delivered on time and to client requirements
- Production and checking of the detailed design deliverables and engineering drawings.
Requirements
- Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered MIMechE for more senior positions, or working towards Chartership
- Recognised training of software packages i.e. AutoCAD, FE analysis software an advantage together with familiarity with the Microsoft suite of products.
- Project engineering experience including design, project management and some site supervision an advantage
- You will be driven to meet targets, and have a high level of commercial awareness
- Knowledge of remote handling systems preferable but not essential
- Knowledge of mechanical building services including pressure vessels an advantage
Essential- Due to the nature of work undertaken at our clients' site offices, candidates will need to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance and should therefore be willing to undergo a security vetting process
