German based international company, based in Knowsley, who sell, design and manufacture custom built close tolerance machinery for the pharmaceutical industry. Our machines press or coat tablets are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer
Your role
Producing designs and subsequent manufacturing drawings and related documentation from written design specifications using primarily ProEngineer CAD software. AutoCAD is also available but is used only in a secondary role for support of existing products.
Discussing and interpreting Sales Dept. requirements and preparing concise engineering specifications as a prerequisite to design.
Discussing and resolving design related production problems with in-house manufacturing departments, subcontractors and suppliers.
Reviewing customer provided tender documentation and assessing to compliance of company products to customers' requirements. To respond formally to the Sales Dept. providing technical information on the degree of compliance and corresponding noncompliance.
Keeping accurate records of time worked on each project or other activity.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in the above duties and we would also require the candidate to: Have an appropriate Higher National Certificate or Diploma or preferably an engineering Degree.
Have a recognised engineering apprenticeship or other appropriate structured training would be expected. In the case of a graduate, sufficient suitable post graduate industrial training to compensate for lack of an apprenticeship.
Hands-on experience of a 3D CAD modelling system such as ProEngineer, including actual production of working designs. An ability to use AutoCAD would be expected in addition.
Experience in the provision of engineering support to sales in a company supplying capital goods to the food or pharmaceutical industry would be an advantage.
Have some relevant experience in the design of machine tools, pharmaceutical machinery or similar equipment with an appreciation of the following:
Highly stressed transmission Pneumatic systems engineering constructional materials Precision mechanical assemblies Tribology Food or pharmaceutical constructional materials and finishes Noise control Transducers and motorisation associated with computer control
Salary £28000 - £31000 depending on exp.
