Salary / Hourly Rate: £25000 - £30000 per annum



Duties will include;

The maintenance of all mechanical systems, including heating and ventilation, air conditioning, hot and cold water systems, sprinkler systems, pressure systems, lifts and energy management systems etc.

Ensure that council installations are maintained in accordance with, and that systems comply with, current applicable regulations.
To specify, design and invite tenders for minor installations for heating and ventilation and hot and cold water systems.

Obtaining quotes for materials and negotiating with suppliers to obtain best terms, and checking invoices for supplies and services provided by contractors.

Negotiating with utility suppliers for new supplies and repair of faults to existing facilities.

Giving technical advice to other sections and providing operational guidance.

Provide data for and operate Repair and Notification, Asset Management and Agresso Financial systems.

Provide support and assistance to developers and contractors working in partnership with the Council on corporate property, eg., Northgate Development

Experience
Previous experience with a public sector, Consultant or Contractor in connection with mechanical services design, installation and maintenance works.
Knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2007.
Knowledge of the principles of Best Value when applied to the public sector.
Supervisory experience in the procurement and commissioning of specialist consultants, and contractors engaged on building services projects.
Experience of working in a support service role, dealing with clients and responding to requests of assistance.

Skills and Aptitude
Numerate, literate and the ability to use computers. Ability to maintain clear and precise records.
Self motivated and able to work under own initiative with the minimum of supervision, and also within a small team.
Current driving licence.
Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Word and Excel.
Ability to use AutoCAD and GIS systems.

Education and Qualifications

Recognised qualification in building services.
Incorporated engineer qualifications or equivalent.
Evidence of Health and Safety awareness e.g. NEBOSH Certificate in Construction Safety and Health.
Personal Qualities
Personable, ability to deal with members of the public and other council officers either face to face or on the telephone.

Hours of Work : 37 hours per week (flexitime)
Annual Leave : 24 days
Mileage Allowance : 42.9p (up to 999cc), 46.9p (1000-1199cc), 58.7p (>1200cc) (Own vehicle preferred)
