An opportunity exists for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join the Decommissioning and Clean-up division based in Warrington. This consultancy is providing ongoing services to a number of major programmes across the defence, clean-up and decommissioning sectors within the nuclear industry.
The Warrington based multidiscipline design team is responsible for the delivery of work packages to Atkins' project teams based in the North West, Berkshire, the South East and the South West. You will be required to take responsibility for delivering engineering solutions to a range of projects whilst demonstrating a high level of technical competence.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical work is delivered to the relevant standards and to the satisfaction of the client, co-ordinating the technical aspect of design and systems interfaces, liaising with all stakeholders, developing design plans and leading and directing design teams. The role will also include methods and buildability studies, workmanship and materials issues, in-house research and technical alerts and work at client sites.
You will be Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering and Chartered. Nuclear experience is preferred but is not vital. Experience of working in a design office environment would be beneficial.
Candidates will need to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance and should also be willing to undergo a security vetting process.
