Welding Engineer - welding competence in both fusion and resistance welding - office based senior position to oversee and coach/mentor other welding engineers - based Cheshire - salary to £30K plus company bonus scheme and pension
We are looking for a Welding Engineer, educated to HND or degree standard or equivalent and with professional membership of the Welding Institute and/or who is a European Welding Engineer.
Candidates for the position of welding engineer must be able to demonstrate technical welding competence in both fusion and resistance welding, including familiarity with reactive metals and experience of thin gauge materials, together with supporting metallurgical ability.
Knowledge of the Aerospace sector would be a distinct advantage, as would familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts.
Reporting to the Lean Coordinator, the Welding Engineer will lead a small team to support and improve current welding processes and develop procedures for new product.
The role requires a good team player who is able to interact with shop floor operators and supervision as well as liaising with the quality, sales, engineering and R&D functions. The successful candidate for the position of welding engineer will be required to ensure that all work activities and records comply with company policies, procedures, standards, regulations and codes of practice including NADCAP.
This requirement is for an office based senior engineer to oversee the work and coach/mentor 2 more junior welding engineers - who together will manage and control all the technical aspects of shop floor welding activities including:-
* Preparation and authorising of new Weld Procedures * Qualifying welders and maintaining training/qualification records * Organising the calibration and servicing of welding plant * Troubleshooting and resolving welding faults and quality defects * Input into Quality Review and Technical Meetings * Ordering of consumable welding supplies * Recommending and justifying new capital equipment * Participating in team events and process improvement projects * Mentoring/coaching and managing others
