Reporting into the Technical Manager the Consultant will provide project support in waste strategy, recycling and composting and general waste management. This will include covering work locally aswell as supporting projects across the company ranging from strategic work for local authorities to waste management advice to waste management companies.
KEY PROJECTS/CLIENTS: With a diverse portfolio of projects and clients, work will be varied and interesting and cover both the public and private sectors. Current or recent projects undertaken include a wide range of local authorities, DEFRA NISP work, DEFRA WasteDataFlow and WRAP Rotate Projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • TECHNICAL: Support team members in a range of waste projects providing both technical and research support by carrying out assessments of data and compiling reports. mutually acceptable performance measures in discussion with line manager and to ensure that these are met or exceeded. • CLIENT CARE: Ensure that all deliverables meet the quality levels expected by both Enviros and its clients. Work is delivered to meet deadlines and within budget. • COMMERCIAL: Contribute to the development of the business by putting forward ideas, providing constructive feedback and contributing to meetings and group discussions. • TEAM WORKING: Work with others (including outside of own team) to identify market intelligence that could lead to business development opportunities. Follow direction from Project Managers and other more experienced staff, to work diligently and to ask for support promptly when objectives are unclear or additional clarification is needed to complete work. Work in a way that maximises the effectiveness of the whole team and to be professional, courteous, flexible and supportive to colleagues and clients at all times. Work with manager to develop a career development plan and identify development needs. Take responsibility for own performance and contribute to the performance of the wider team.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS: • Educated to degree level (or equivalent or be able to demonstrate equivalent level of understanding) in a relevant environmental discipline. • Ideally hold membership of a professional institution however this is not essential.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: • Environmental and/or waste management work experience gained either in a consultancy, Local Authority or industry would be an advantage although this is not a pre-requisite. • Experience or knowledge of waste strategy, recycling or composting is required. • The ability to manipulate date and strong working knowledge of Excel is essential. • A willingness to learn new skills and apply them in a commercial setting is the most important asset for the successful candidate. • Experience of professional report writing. • Able to working as part of a team and build positive working relationships. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex subjects clearly. • Self motivated. • Strong communication/interpersonal skills. • Applicants are required to have a full driving license
