A Senior Geotechnical Engineer is required by our client in Cheshire to lead the geotechnical aspects of our client's projects and assist existing staff with a view to building the geotechnical team.
This is a key position and you would be expected to win work and provide leadership and technical advice to team members.
Project work will be across several client sectors (eg. rail, highways, water, land regeneration, commercial property) and you will need to manage the delivery of parts of projects to meet time, quality and budgetary targets.
Marketing the company’s services through meetings with Clients, bid and proposal preparation and general promotional activities will also play a key part in your role.
You will have a B.Eng / B.Sc / M.Eng or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or similar and preferably have a suitable postgraduate degree (such as an M.Sc, M.EnvSci) AND / OR Chartered Status (C.Eng MICE, C.Eng MIMM, MCIWEM, CGeol, etc.)
Your postgraduate experience (preferably in a Design Consultancy) should include the supervisory aspects of geotechnical projects, the application of standards and codes, managing specialist sub-consultants and project management (whole projects or sub-projects). You should also have experience in the use and implementation of quality assurance systems, experience in considering commercial matters in the conduct of duties and competency in the use of geotechnical analysis software (GINT, OASYS, SLIDE, SLOPE/W, WALLAP, PLAXIS).
You will have a high level of self-motivation with the ability to mentor less experienced members of the team, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of critical thinking and engineering judgement.
Our client will offer a competitive salary, probably in the region of £35 - 40,000 p.a., together with a generous benefits package.
