Job profile
The Manchester office has a wide range of infrastructure skills and undertakes projects linked to heavy rail, light rail, structures, buildings, earthworks, foundations and regeneration schemes.
Many of the Group projects involve construction within Brownfield sites, in addition we wish to expand our regeneration skills and workload.
The Senior Engineer will play a lead role in the development of the team and workload in regeneration.
Job description
1 Prepare investigation, sampling and testing strategies 2 Supervise graduates on: • Desk studies and reconnaissance of sites. • Preparation of site investigation contract documents • Site supervision of investigations • Monitoring of ground investigation installations • Prepare basic interpretations of investigations, preparation of conceptual site models risk assessments 3 Define the scope and approach to quantitative risk assessments 4 Prepare design approaches, undertake calculations and prepare design drawings. 5 Prepare interpretative reports 6 Prepare options and validation reports
The senior engineer will report to the Principal Geo Engineer and the Divisional Director
Candidate specification
Essential academic, professional qualifications and experience: • B Sc in Eng Geol or civil eng. Or Env Science • 6yrs industry experience gained with a contractor or consultant
Desired academic, professional qualifications and experience: • M Sc in Eng Geotechnical Eng/Hydrogeology/Env Science • 10yrs relevant experience with a range of backgrounds and types of work
Essential competencies / skills: • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team • Capable of leading geo-env team • Keen to mentor graduates • Experience of quantitative risk assessment
Desired competencies / skills: • Experience of developing a team • Project management • Experience of regeneration projects
