Would you like the opportunity to join a successful SEA team, help service an ever-growing UK client base and workload and focus on technical delivery of SEA / SA's?

Our client in Cheshire is seeking to appoint a Senior Environmental SEA Consultant to undertake Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) / Sustainability Appraisals (SA) for a range of high profile government, local government and private sector clients.

This will include managing the production of and significant technical input into SEAs and SAs including tasks such as developing methodologies, providing advice to clients, baseline data collection and analysis, plans review, development of SEA / SA frameworks, assessment and mitigation proposals and monitoring frameworks. You will also be expected to partake in the preparation of draft and finalised reports and other documents as required.

You will have a BA or B.Sc and M.Sc or equivalent in an appropriate subject together with good experience in an environmental consultancy, specialising in SEA. Membership of a recognised institute such as IEMA, CIWEM, IEEM or CENV would be useful.

With an excellent working knowledge of the SEA Directive and Regulations and UK Planning systems, you will have particular skills in SA for local and regional planning, notably Local Development Frameworks and Local Development Plans. A sound knowledge of social and economic impacts and their interactions with environmental impacts is essential, whilst any other sector experience such as water, energy, waste, transport and regeneration would be beneficial.

You will have the ability to undertake the technical aspect of an SEA with minimal supervision and will have a strong working knowledge of the UK planning system and principles of sustainable development, whilst experience in the coordination of multidisciplinary teams and management of subconsultants and knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (Environmental Assessment) and other best practice EIA guidance would be advantageous.

A driving licence valid in the UK is essential.

You will be articulate with a high standard of report writing and communication skills.

This is a superb opportunity for a technical specialist, looking to potentially develop greater business and management skills in the future.

Our client will offer a competitive salary, probably in the range of £33 - 38,000 p.a., together with a comprehensive benefits package.
