Job description
We now require a graduate to support further expansion of our busy and successful Geotechnical team.

The role will provide a range of challenging and dynamic projects where you will have the ability to receive and develop a brief and contribute to the development of the design and construction process.

Key elements of the role include:

• Involvement in a project or a small portfolio of projects of various sizes from conception through to completion
• Undertake Desk studies, ground investigations and Site Surveys
• Complete a wide range of geotechnical designs including shallow & deep foundations, earthworks, slopes, reinforced earth and walls
• Preparation of documents, reports and health and safety risk assessments
• Having an appreciation of the roles of fellow professionals on multidisciplinary projects (Architect, Quantity Surveyor etc) and interfacing and coordinating with them appropriately
• Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a ‘hands on’ role in technical matters both at project and divisional level
• Interpreting commercial and/or contractual aspects of correspondence with or between fellow professionals

Candidate specification
Essential requirements:

• BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng level degree in a relevant subject
• Able to demonstrate Technical (Design) skills and a genuine interest in Geotechnical design
• Enthusiastic and ambitious
• Outward facing with good interpersonal skills
• Self motivated with good organisational capability
• Able to appreciate UK construction law and contracts
• Effective in both verbal and written communication
Desirable criteria:
• Experience in a Geotechnical background
• Candidates must be able to demonstrate a high level of technical / academic ability within a fast moving commercial consultancy environment
• Understanding of financial constraints of the UK construction consulting industry
