Associate – Environmental

Multi-disciplinary Environmental Consultancy seek and Associate for their Environmental team to work from a choice of their North West offices. This is a consultancy who value a work life balance and invest in staff resulting in an extremely low staff turnover.
Salary up to £55,000 + company car and various benefits.
Objectives:
·Provide solutions on development projects (both private and public sectors). ·Provide support to civil and structural engineering sections of The company on major infrastructure and construction projects. ·Project management. ·Management, develop and lead team. ·Client liaison and development. ·Business development.
Tasks:
·Undertaking technical work in own discipline. ·Management of Environmental Impact Assessments. ·Management of Sustainability Appraisals. ·Environmental Coordinator for highway schemes. ·Day to day management of a team of three to four professional staff. ·Project management of teams of three to five staff. ·Meeting programme deadlines. ·Delivery of projects to budget. ·Technical review of deliverables prior to issue. ·Reporting on team workload and resources. ·Maintaining liaison with both external clients and internal project managers. ·Maintain and develop relationships with external clients and internal sections. ·Financial management, providing information to Technical Director. ·Business development. ·Mentoring of other staff. ·Carry out such other tasks as may be reasonably required.
The post may involve working on site and this may involve working away from home and, occasionally, abroad.
The team currently comprises two staff working on ecological studies, environmental impact assessments and sustainability appraisals.
However, the wider team also undertakes work in contaminated land, flooding, sustainable urban drainage and geotechnics. At times it will be necessary to provide support and work on projects in any one of these areas. Therefore, a flexible attitude to working across a broad spectrum of environmental projects would be an advantage.
Education & Qualifications:
·Degree level in relevant subject. ·Masters qualification in a relevant subject. ·Chartered status with relevant professional institution (CIWEM, IEMA, IEEM or equivalent). ·A high standard of written English is required. ·Full UK driving licence.
Experience:
Essential experience:
·Skills and knowledge in Environmental Impact Assessment ·Technical expertise in one or more of the following: ecology, landscape, environmental science.
Experience in the following key areas would be an advantage: ·Public Inquiry. ·Acting as Environmental Coordinator for road/highway schemes. ·Management of Environmental Impact Assessments including dealing with sub consultant service providers. ·Preparation of Sustainability Appraisals. ·Management and development of teams and staff. ·Business development. ·Client liaison. ·Dealing with regulators and statutory bodies.
