Job description
Mott MacDonald are world leaders in the design, development and delivery of transportation schemes both in the UK and overseas. This work includes all aspects of the Light Rail Rolling Stock required for for their successful operation. Due to the increase in the demand for these services we now require a mechanical or electrical engineer (Light Rail Rolling Stock) to join our team to carry out detailed technical and project management work.
The successful candidate will report to a Team Leader and be based in our Altringham office. He/she will be responsible for delivering whole projects or detailed tasks within projects to time and budget. Some of this work may involve the use of sophisticated in-house software.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop relationships with key clients and continue to promote Mott MacDonald effectively and the services we offer.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their capabilities with a view to becoming a Principal Engineer.
Candidate specification
The candidate will ideally:
· Be degree qualified in a mechanical or electrical discipline.
· Be a Chartered Mechanical/Electrical Engineer or qualification/experience leading towards Chartered status.
· Have the ability to communicate with clarity both verbally and in writing.
The candidate should have experience in some of the following areas:
· Experience in the design and manufacture of Light Rail Rolling Stock.
· Experience in the procurement of rail vehicles.
· Vehicle dynamics experience with detailed knowledge of Vampire modelling software.
· Rolling Stock/Light Rail consultancy experience.
· Rolling Stock systems engineering.
· Specialist knowledge of one or more Rolling Stock discipline (e.g. bogies or vehicle structures)
