Job Title: Project Engineer

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Location: Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

Job Role:
A member of the operations team responsible for engineering & contract management of high integrity steel fabrications, assemblies and skid- type package units

Key duties & responsibilities:
1. Compliance with customer-specified technical & commercial requirements
2. Development, production & approval of manufacturing drawings, BOM, requisitions and manufacturing process instructions.
3. Preparation of work packs for in-house & sub-contract manufacturing, assembly & testing
4. Effective communication with customer, third party and internal personnel
5. Production & customer-approval of required project manufacturing, quality, shipping and commercial documentation.
6. Monitoring and reporting on manufacturing & sub-contracted activities to Operations Management.
7. Continuous improvement of project engineering processes an performance

Qualifications & Experience:

A recognised academic qualification in Mechanical or Production Engineering to HNC or first degree level and ‘hands on’ project manufacturing experience:

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and best practice
Customer-focused project engineering experience
Able to demonstrate technical & commercial success with customers and contracts over £500k in the process, power or manufacturing sectors..
Essential Skills

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and detailed customer specifications, quality control & logistics
User knowledge & experience of 3D CAD, preferably ‘Solid Works’
Knowledge of steel fabrication, machining & assembly processes, materials & coatings.
Able to communicate clearly and precisely.
Understands the principles of engineering, cost-effectiveness, lean manufacturing, niche markets, product development, features-benefits-solutions.
Computer literacy particularly with standard Microsoft software packages (excel, word, outlook) and the internet)
Understands profit and loss calculations, mechanical engineering calculations, and basic business finance, eg, gross margin percentages and calculations, fixed & variable costs.
Competent originator of business letters, enquiries, requisitions and instructions.

Additional Skills

Working knowledge of integrated manufacturing software (BOM, planning & scheduling, job costing) eg. Epicor ‘Vantage’
