Principal Piping & Layout Engineer
We have an immediate, permanent vacancy for Principal Piping & Layout Engineer based in the Cheshire area. Our client works within the process engineering industry experience and is ideally looking for candidates that have experience of working on Petrochemical projects. As an essential member of a project based team reporting directly to the Project Manager, the successful candidate’s key responsibilities would include:
• Project piping and layout drawing office Lead Engineer, having responsibility for and design authority over all plant design drawing office activities and CAD interface issues.
• Overall responsibility for a number of CAD drawing office sections, each supervised by Area Section Leaders, that will include, but may not limited to, piping designers, draughtsmen and checkers.
• Technical support to the project piping and layout drawing office
• Allocation of work to the area Section Leaders.
• Liaison with clients CAD/CAE department to establish and thereafter maintain problem free CAD systems (predominantly PDMS) both in the UK office and globally.
• Control and audit all piping and layout drawing office activities on a project to ensure that the applicable company systems are used, that the relevant QA procedures and standards are followed and that the design conforms to contract specific requirements and any other Client, company, national or international standards, design codes and legislation.
• Co-ordinating and managing internal and external design reviews.
• Preparation of piping and layout manhour estimates for new projects.
Candidates will ideally b educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering subject and be a corporate member of a relevant institution.
Candidates that have extensive expertise in process plant layout, pipework design, fabrication and erection, health, safety and environmental issues and good site experience will be advantageous. Ideally candidates will have excellent working knowledge of PDMS and CAD/CAE set-up/interface.
