Job Title: Piling Engineer
Purpose:
Manage the design engineering and estimating functions ensuring timely delivery and accuracy of information to meet budget.
Reports To: Discipline Manager – North West Piling
Key Interfaces: Piling CST
Reporting to the Mini Piling & Underpinning Discipline Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the estimating functions within the department. They will be required to develop the mini piling and underpinning business within the North West region, identifying new market opportunities, preparing estimates and tenders, attending site and client meetings and dealing with the management of selected contracts which will include liaising with staff in order to programme adequate labour and plant resources, preparing briefing sheets for piling foreman and ensuring that all QA Procedures and Health & Safety & Statutory requirements apply to the Mini Piling & Underpinning works they arrange.
This would be an ideal opportunity for someone to join a small team who has either just graduated from University with either a civil engineering or geotechnical degree or someone who has a year or two's experience in the field.
Obviously, due to the client facing element and the ability to discuss issues with site staff, the successful candidate will need to be someone who easily builds rapport with people, a good influencer with good communications skills that can be tailored to suit. An element of the role will be to supervise site engineers and site supervisors so individuals must have a natural man management style which can be developed over time. They will need to be organised, have good numerical skills, methodical and logical, have attention to detail.
