As a result of our continuing success we are recently appointed as Design Services Consultant by the promoters of NET for the proposed extensions of the system; having previously acted as their lead technical advisor through the TWA application. We require a Technical Engineering Manager, primarily to support the NET project manager, manage a variety of functions including the technical and planning work stream leaders, reporting to the client team and liaison with Stakeholders.
Job description Based in our Altrincham office, the successful candidate will be required to: • Plan, design and implement LRT/highways projects. • Managing delivery of projects to meet recognised quality standards and procedures • Interface with other professionals and clients • Communicate professionally, effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing. • Lead specific tasks and co-ordinate a growing team on a prestigious major transport infrastructure scheme. • Involvement in preparation of proposals and submissions.
The candidate will be expected to spend part of their time in the client’s office in central Nottingham.
Recent Light Rapid Transit projects in the North West office include the revamp of Blackpool trams, works on the Croydon Tramlink, Birmingham’s metro system, Manchester Metrolink expansion and the upgrading of its existing system.
Candidate specification Essential qualifications, experience, competencies and skills: • At least 5 years post Chartered experience in a transport related field. • Experience in rapid transit or highway design projects. • Multi disciplinary experience within transportation projects. • Strong Project Management experience with a technical focus. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Experience of reviewing work from other technical disciplines, including those typically associated with light rail projects. • Flexibility to work at different offices which have LRT disciplines.
Desirable qualifications, experience, competencies and skills: • Experience in strategic planning of transport schemes, including acting on behalf of promoters. • Knowledge of the planning process, Major Scheme Business Case and the Transport and Works Act procedures would be a distinct advantage. • Experience of AutoCAD, MX and similar design tools. • Appreciation of operational planning methods, including modelling techniques such as Vissim.
