Technical leader within the pipeline division of an Oil & Gas company based in the North east

Description
Reporting to the Manager - Mechanical team, this role will be responsible for leading the Mechanical Engineering Team based in the UK and India, managing day to day technical aspects of the Team and driving development of technical expertise.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the conceptual design, applied research, specification, hardware, design, development, and testing of the on-line inspection vehicles and associated handling and test equipment.
Manage and direct global engineering resources to provide solutions to complex mechanical problems in restricted timescales, satisfy Technology program requirements (quality and quantity).
Grow skill set of team through recruitment, training, and mentoring.
Ensure all design solutions meet client requirements and account for standardization, value engineering, maintainability, project timescales and budgets.
Responsible for estimates, plans, reports, and spend against project and department budget.
Deploy resources in the most effective manner across the project portfolio and resolve resource conflicts.
Ensure that all staff are following design practices and company Six Sigma quality methodology in all development projects.
Qualifications
Hopefully an engineering degree BSC or equivalent minimum.
Mechanical design experience with knowledge of structural analysis, gas dynamics and heat transfer.
Management experience- Demonstrated success in leading a team of professional engineers, scientists, designers and other technical staff operating in a high technology field. Global experience preferred.
Practical and analytical experience that can be applied to solve complex electro mechanical problems.
Experience in the management and control of multiple projects with variety of resources both internal and outsourced and achieve deadlines.
Ability to work in a global and cross-functional environment.
Strong communication & presentation skills
Some overseas travel may be required to manage multi location team
Chartered member of a senior engineering institution.
Desired
Experience in the technology aspects of pipeline inspection equipment.
An in depth knowledge of oil and gas pipeline design and operation.
Green Belt certification or higher
