We are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer (Materials Handling) with mechanical engineering experience on large industrial process projects, with particular emphasis on materials handling Qualified to BEng / HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Candidates will need to possess a sound understanding of fundamental engineering principles and have the ability to apply them to practical situations
Also required are CAD skills and strong communication and leadership ability. All candidates for the position of Mechanical Project Engineer (Materials Handling) must be able to work closely and actively in a project team environment and
Practical experience of materials handling and other process equipment installation and commissioning will be a definite benefit as will some process engineering experience
The role of Mechanical Project Engineer (Materials Handling) will involve responsibility for the materials handling section of a large industrial process project. In particular the engineer will be responsible for the basic concept and specification of the materials handling, including contractor selection and work closely with engineering design contractors and vendors through the design, installation and commissioning phases of the project.
The engineer will in addition support the project team in validating the mechanical engineering integrity of all equipment
Day to day duties will include:-
* Leading the concept study, specification, design, installation and commissioning of the materials handling section * Ensuring the mechanical engineering integrity of the project * Value engineering * Reviewing and control of engineering drawings and design calculations, * Preparation of engineering documentation, specifications and technical enquiries * Technical appraisal of bids and equipment selection * Identifying potential engineering issues * Liaising with equipment vendors, manufacturers and other subcontractors * Expediting and inspection to ensure compliance * Approving modifications or amendments to design * Monitoring of equipment tests * Contributing to the Safety and Quality Plans * Contributing to the maintenance manuals
Although the Mechanical Project Engineer (Materials Handling) will be based in Belgium and report to the relevant Project Manager , these projects could be located in any part of the world, and so the engineer will be expected to travel as required, within reasonable constraints. This will include being present during installation and commissioning when required.
