This position will be Head of Mott MacDonald’s South African Maritime Engineering reporting to the country’s Engineering Managing Director. JOB DESCRIPTION
You will be charged with coordinating and leading operations with Mott MacDonald’s existing engineering disciplines and maximising new and existing business opportunities.
Responsibilities will include but not exclusive to:
• Leading Mott MacDonald’s South African national Marine engineering capability.
• Lead various stages of maritime engineering projects including strategy evaluation, detailed appraisal, concept development, feasibility studies, detailed design and administration of contracts.
• Responsible as the Maritime Division’s representative for South Africa with the overall commercial and technical running off the regional business.
• You will be involved in the planning, design and construction of maritime structures including oil, gas, bulk materials; general cargo and container terminals, harbours, dredging, reclamation and breakwaters for clients world-wide.
• You will lead, develop, motivate and manage a team of professionals.
• Maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of the respective discipline engineering work.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
The successful candidate(s) will be highly integrated into the management and success of specific projects and of the whole project function. It is essential that that any individual is capable of establishing credible relations with the client, senior project personnel and site personnel quickly.
The Successful candidate is likely to have the following attributes:
• The candidate should have an Engineering Degree (or equivalent) and have several years experience post qualified professional engineering experience.
• Experience in Marine engineering and integration design/consultancy ideally within a similar large engineering or multi-disciplinary project is essential for any applicant.
• An understanding and appreciated of the complexities of a large multi-disciplinary projects and how this can/will impact engineering design functions.
• Ideally the candidate will be a country national seeking to add value to the country and it infrastructure.
• The individual should be a team player although capable of working autonomously.
• Capability to report and produce status reviews for senior colleagues with experience.
