Mott MacDonald’s is involved in many of the largest and most technically demanding projects in the UK and worldwide. These projects range from Crossrail in London, Heathrow Terminal 5, Thameslink, East London Line, Victoria Station Upgrade, Budapest Metro, Dublin Interconnectot, TfL tunnels refurbishment, the SMART dual purpose tunnel in Malaysia, the Karahnjukar Hydro-electric project in Iceland and many more.
Our involvement covers all stages of the project, from project conception, through planning and parliamentary approval, to design, procurement of constructors, supervision of construction, commissioning, and asset management.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As an Immersed Tunnel Engineer in Mott MacDonald, you will be involved on a range of national and international small to large projects that are industry and publicly high profile. The role will be challenging, varied and demanding of a range of skills that offers fantastic opportunities for skill set and career development.
Depending upon seniority, day-to-day responsibilities may include but not limited to:
• Design drawings for the construction work of projects, general specifications, special specifications, terms of reference for authorized supervision services, terms of supervision agreement
• Depending upon seniority, preparation and submission of technical reports containing review comment on design revision relating to the services in charge
• Depending upon seniority, responsible for activities performed on any projects.
• Potentially review contractor’s method statement for carrying out compaction pilling for reinforcement and for studying differential settlement preventive measure
• Project specific, check and confirm transportation and immersion of tunnel elements, joint closing, and the forced ventilation system.
• Depending upon seniority, become involved in business development and support the development of Mott MacDonald’s market presence.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
We are looking for an experienced post-chartered Tunnel Engineers. The successful candidates will ideally be have a personal interest and be experienced in Immersed Tunnel Engineering which will be utilised in immediately challenging Engineering projects.
Criteria of successful candidates are:
• Post-chartered engineering experience within Tunnel Engineering Discipline.
• Ideally, candidates should have international engineering experience of supervision of the construction and immersion of immersed tunnels.
• Experience of construction work design drawings and their review.
• Experienced in reviewing and advising on contractor’s method statements.
• Experience of preparation and submission of technical reports and integrated reports.
• Experienced professional with several years post-chartered engineer status.
