JOB PROFILE Mott MacDonald is involved in many of the largest and most technically demanding projects in the UK and worldwide. These projects range from Crossrail in London, Heathrow Terminal 5, Thameslink, East London Line, Victoria Station Upgrade, Budapest Metro, Panama Canel, Dublin Interconnector, TfL tunnels refurbishment, the SMART dual purpose tunnel in Malaysia, the Karahnjukar Hydro-electric project in Iceland and many more.
Our involvement may cover any stage of a project. Our scope as a global consultancy may range from project conception, through planning and parliamentary approval, to design, procurement of constructors, supervision of construction, commissioning, and asset management.
JOB DESCRIPTION As an Associate/Divisional Director, this role will be responsible for the delivery and enhancement of design engineering capability to meet and exceed client’s expectations..
Day-to-day responsibilities will include but not be limited to: • Ensuring day-to-day successful delivery within challenging and demanding project environments. • Lead multi-disciplinary teams on high value project requirements. • Lead, manage and ensure delivery of Tunnel/Geotechnical Engineering projects and coordinate other engineering disciplines including, structural, environmental, mechanical and electrical engineers. • Ensure client’s expectations are met and further enhance Mott MacDonald’s business and business development opportunities. • Operate as project manager or/and mentor to other project managers as necessary. • Ensure that team member’s careers and skills developments are being matched to expectations and sustained.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION Candidates will already be in possession of relevant academic qualifications, post-chartership Geotechnical/Tunnel Design Engineering experienced and able to demonstrate exceptional design engineering technical competences and project manager skills.
Successful Candidates are likely to have the following characteristics: • Good academic background with degree qualification (or equivalent), ideally in civil engineering or geology. A masters/PhD degree in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology related disciplines will benefit any applicant. • Chartered status, ideally with 12+ years of post chartership experience and seeking to expand and maximise career opportunities. • It is essential that the candidate is experienced in Tunnel/Geotechnical design engineering ideally working on multi-disciplinary rail/metro projects. delivery. • Be innovative looking to develop their technical and management skills and the willingness to tackle any challenge • A ‘can do’ attitude with full awareness of team working and project checking and approval procedures.
