Associate – Urban Regional Planning – London / United States Our prestigious and well reputed consulting client provides integrated strategic design, management and implementation consultancy for the built environment. The urban and regional planning team, working closely with related groups for environmental and infrastructure projects, takes a holistic approach to projects which combines: –Analysis, Planning and Design: for all factors impacting on the growth and development of a city, region or urban area. The scope includes developing responses not only for city structure, public realm, infrastructure and transportation but also demographic, social, economic, environmental and business planning elements. –Consultation: working with key public and private stakeholders and general public to understand requirements and to develop a shared vision and common approach to delivering it. –Capacity Building and Organisational Development: assisting client organisations to develop the structures, systems and skills necessary to implement the city vision and plans. –Implementation: identifying and prioritise the projects necessary to deliver a plan and assisting with the financial packaging, procurement and delivery of those projects. The team takes a lead role on each of its projects – managing the relationship with the client and building multi-disciplinary project teams drawn from both from inside and outside the company. The projects cover a wide scale from regional planning through whole city planning to planning for key sites within cities. The project workload has a strongly international focus, covering both developed and developing countries. Project clients are drawn from all sectors: private, public and international bodies Person Requirements The Associate in the Urban Planning Team will play a key role in the development of the team and the client as a whole. The Associate will take responsibility for leading larger projects within the group and will also play an important part in developing new business and in developing the approaches and skills of the group. You will initially be tasked with a large project in the United States. The key requirements for the Associate are: •Degree in Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or Civil Engineering from an internationally recognised university. Further post-graduate study in these or related fields will be viewed favourably. •Substantial relevant work experience including major project leader roles on urban planning/design/master planning projects. Experience of undertaking this type of work in an international environment will be important. •Preferably a Chartered Member of an appropriate professional body such as the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) , Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or their non-UK equivalents.. •Experience in managing a team, as well as dealing with internal and external clients. •Confident, proactive character, with a track record of taking the lead in challenging situations.
