We are looking for a Project Engineer (Iron and Steel) with engineering experience of large industrial process projects in the iron and steel industry and strong experience of iron and steel making equipment
Candidates for the position of Project Engineer (Iron and Steel) will need tohave an extractive metallurgical background and a sound understanding of fundamental engineering principles and the ability to apply them to practical situations
Qualified to BEng / HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, candidates for the position of Project Engineer (Iron and Steel) should have strong communication and leadership skills and the ability to work closely and actively in a project team environment
Experience of the design and operation of Rotary Hearth Furnaces is desirable but not essential as is experience of melting furnaces and casting and practical experience of process plant or materials handling equipment installation and commissioning
The Project Engineer (Iron and Steel) will need to have an understanding of how engineering and selection impacts on budget and schedules.
The role of Project Engineer (Iron and Steel) will involve managing the technical and engineering aspects of iron and steel related equipment packages on projects
Day to day responsibilities will include:-
* Ensuring the technical and engineering integrity of iron and steel related packages on a project * Value engineering * Reviewing and control of engineering drawings and design calculations, * Preparation of engineering documentation and specifications * Technical appraisal of bids and equipment selection * Identifying potential engineering issues * Liaising with equipment vendors, manufacturers and other subcontractors * Expediting and inspection * Approving modifications or amendments to design * Monitoring of equipment tests * Contributing to the Safety and Quality Plans * Contributing to operating and maintenance manuals
The Project Engineer (Iron and Steel) will be based in Belgium and report to the relevant Project Manager but will be expected to work on any project carried out within the company - usually being assigned to one project from inception to completion.
These projects could be located in any part of the world, and so the Project Engineer (Iron and Steel) will be expected to travel as required, within reasonable constraints. This will include being present during installation and commissioning
Candidates should, ideally, already be living in Belgium or able/willing to relocate quickly
