Job Description Our client is a diverse project based consultancy with a large building services division working within multi-discipline design and property maintenance teams. They offer a variety project work with a number of high profile commercial and public sector clients.
The building services engineering role is within their Cambridge office and they are responsible for delivering mechanical and engineering services to a varied client base. Projects range from complex high value innovative schemes for both new and large refurbishments to minor schemes such as boiler replacements and heating upgrades. Requirements The successful candidate will have a professional attitude and a strong commercial awareness. You will be able to deal directly and communicate effectively with clients, external bodies and other internal staff. Your background will be in building services consultancy and you will possess experience in the following:
Mechanical Engineering or Building Service qualification to ONC/HNC/HND/Degree level. Preferably you will be a member of CIBSE Design of all aspects of mechanical building services across varied property types. Contract administration being conversant with standard forms of contract. Working with and managing existing clients Project management HVAC system assessments surveys and professional report writing You must have a demonstrable knowledge of HVAC systems including their performance, application and operation. NES specification software Hevacomp design software You must be able to understand and apply current engineering standards, practices, regulations and legislation. Able to work effectively within a multi-disciplined team. Able to manage and plan your own workload to achieve tight deadlines. Have a good all round IT capability. You must have the ability to drive, and be physically fit to enable plant inspections. Responsibilities The existing team carries out a wide range of design, project management, contract administration and maintenance duties across various commissions in both the public and private sectors. You will be responsible for delivering projects from inception to completion.
The scope of this role includes: Receipt of initial instructions and QSE procedures Client liaison and brief development Conducting site assessment surveys in respect of feasibility reports, condition, performance, defect analysis and system suitability. Preparation of professional engineering reports. Design of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and water services systems Production of drawings and specifications Liaison with statutory bodies in respect of compliance and planning etc Preparation of tender documents Obtaining tenders and quotations Tender analysis Supervision and monitoring of contracts interim valuations Agreeing final accounts Ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with the brief and specification.
