Outstanding opportunities exist for experienced mechanical engineers to join various national offices including Auckland and Wellington for current and planned projects. For this particular position I’m looking for an Engineering Manager of Detailed Design for a power station. This power station is geothermal and is to be built locally here in New Zealand. The person will have strong detailed design capability and understand the design process of:
- Process Design and establishment of Vendor Package design parameters
- Specification of vendor packages
- Balance of plant bulk material design
- Detailed understanding of the work flow of vendor responses through to electrical design and civil/structural design to support smae and the BOP.
- Detailed understanding of pipe fittings and valves, specifying control valves etc
- Detailed understanding of design codes
- Detailed understanding of auxiliary systems such as fire protection, HVAC, raw and potable water systems etc.
The person would need to have high credibility with a Contractor Client and be able to drive the detailed design process and coach and teach the design team. Based in Auckland, you would be working in a co-located Contractor/Engineer design-build team. To be successful in this role you must have sound technical knowledge of the power generation industry and in particular, hands on experience in Geothermal Power Plants technology from an operational, maintenance and performance aspect. You ideally have experience in providing high level technical advice in a written format in relation to power generation systems and projects.
