We are looking for a Flight Information Display System (FIDS) Specialist / Manager to work at an airport in Abu Dhabi. You would be required to perform a requirements specification role, defining tender packages for Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS) to support airport operation.
Candidates for the position of Flight Information Display System (FIDS) Specialist / Manager should have a good engineering degree (or equivalent), preferably in Systems Engineering, Computing Science, Software Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering and be a Chartered Engineer (or equivalent)
The position of Flight Information Display System (FIDS) Specialist / Manager will involve taking responsibility to ensure that the new Flight Information Display System (FIDS) meets all stakeholder requirements.
The Flight Information Display System (FIDS) Specialist / Manager must be able to validate the supplier's design and check its conformance with appropriate standards as well as leading the implementation of the Flight Information Display System (FIDS) system on behalf of the company's client.
The post holder will be required to co-ordinate with Operations during development so will need strong airport experience.
Candidates must be commercially aware and able to identify business opportunities and have experience of some of the required airport system as well as a broad knowledge of systems and software development methods and environments and, preferably, Project Management experience.
The role will involve evaluating tenders, making recommendations to the client and working with the successful bidder to implement their systems.
You should be highly motivated and adaptable to change, able to make decisions and drive things forward. A solid engineering skill set and IT experience backed by the ability to think beyond the current requirements, and manage customer expectations effectively is required. This is an opportunity to join a growing specialist consultancy team supporting the company's client through complete airport development projects. You would be working for a UK based company whose role in Abu Dhabi is to provide systems and domain expertise from project inception through to operational handover.
The position is initially a contract vacancy with the prospect of eventual permanent employment and work in other countries if desired.
