Introduction
Our client is looking for an experienced individual to set up and manage their utilities strategy division that will be focussed completely on ‘clean’ utility services for a major city development. The selected individual will be responsible for the following primary purpose:
• Defining the strategic plan for utilities that will meet the energy, water & wastewater, waste management as well as the transportation requirements generated by the occupants of the development in line with the sustainable vision of the company.
Responsibilities:
• Liaise with the Energy Management department to obtain and validate the utility demand figures and the corresponding phasing of utilities demand, in line with the environmental and sustainability guidelines set for the development.
• Identify potential utilities (power, water & wastewater, waste management) operators that qualify for providing clean utility services to the development.
• Work closely with the Infrastructure Department on the development, assessment and evaluation of proposed transportation master plans and systems (vehicle parking, LRT, PRT).
• Identify economic, technical and operational implications of each of the suggested transportation systems through working with the relevant transportation design consultants and develop recommendations on each transportation system scenario.
• Communicate transportation recommendations and collaborate with management to identify, develop and evaluate realistic alternative transportation systems that are aligned with the city’s sustainability vision.
• Oversee and guide the analysis conducted on utilities partnership options (including the potential for strategic, research and partnerships with operators and service providers).
• Evaluate strategic partnership options for utilities based on financial and environmental evaluation criteria agreed upon by management (including assessing long-term research and development partnerships that will enhance the creation of a renewable energy research hub in the development).
Requirements:
• Education
–A minimum of a bachelors degree, preferably with a masters degree or an MBA
• Experience
–10+ years of experience in commercial utility agreements, including project finance and infrastructure developments
–Experience in renewable energies is a plus
–Demonstrated track record of structuring, negotiating and finalizing large scale utility agreements
