Job Summary
Our client is a leading engineering consultancy with a solid reputation built on experience gained across the Middle East and Africa who offer unique, fully customised and integrated services to the public and private sectors.
Due to their significant growth, they are now looking to appoint a specialist bridge design engineer, who will become part of their team of engineers and will be working on projects across the UAE and GCC regions.
The ideal candidate will be educated to at least Bachelors Degree level, and preferably Masters and be able to demonstrate expertise in multi-span box girder bridges as part of at least ten years experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the Project Manager by providing leadership to the design consultant teams by pro-actively managing day to day activities of the bridge design team during all phases of the project.
• As an integral part of the project team, ensure meeting the project schedule and budget requirements by establishing the mechanism to track and evaluate progress of the design team.
• Establish the process to monitor the design products for quality assurance and to maintain clients design objectives and requirements.
• Conduct reviews to evaluate and measure performance early in the project against agreed milestones and deliverables. Suggest changes to improve performance level early enough in the project.
• Manage engineering issues and expedite the resolution of design issues and changes. Conduct design meetings with the designers and contractors to address technical issues.
• Assist in the preparation of and implementation of the Project Execution Plan, Risk Management Plan and the procurement strategy.
• Manage the preparation of the risk management workshops and recovery plans, along with any value engineering efforts.
• Assist in monitoring the contractors permit and insurance submittal process.
• Prepare and update of responsibility matrix and project organisation charts.
• Prepare agenda for pre-construction meetings and attend all site coordination and management meetings.
• Prepare meeting minutes and participate in weekly coordination meetings for design activities.
• Participate in the pre-qualification of the subcontractors and suppliers.
• Responsible for managing and administering of completion of warranties and guarantees in respect for installations, products and services provided.
• Assist the Project Manager in the overall management of the project.
Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.
• At least ten years experience with solid career development.
• Have worked to AASHTO and BS level standards.
• Experience in the Middle East
